Instructions for the participants taking accommodation at IIT Bombay during the symposium (7th - 9th March 2024)

IIT Bombay is located in Powai area, which is approximately 9.5/ 13 km from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International/ Domestic Airport Mumbai respectively, 28 km from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and 12 km from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) railway station. It is well connected via road and rail networks.
  • Participants arriving at Terminal 1 or 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International/ Domestic Airport can reach IIT Bombay using prepaid taxi available at airport or can book a cab/auto for themselves.
  • Participants arriving by train can book a cab from either CSMT or LTT directly to IIT Bombay.
  • Participants can go from one place to another inside IIT Bombay using auto/e-taxi or by foot.
  • The predominant languages in Mumbai are Marathi, Hindi and English.
You have to enter IIT Bombay campus through the Main Gate (Gate 2) (Map link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/hniKRV1eXLyhQri3A)

Please inform the security personnel present at the gate that you are here to attend the conference. You may show your confirmation email at the gate if required. We will revert back to after speaking with the security office about the possibility of generating a gate pass for all participants. Outside vehicles such as Autos/Cabs are allowed inside the campus.

Once you enter, please go straight to Hostel 10 (girls’ accommodation, Map link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/zEv9tM1nByXDg9vn8) or Hostel 4 (boys’ accommodation, Map link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ssoTAcGTtLZKkd1C9)

Our student representatives (Mr. Dilawar Singh/ Ms. Sruthi Sudhakar) will be present at the two hostels in order to register your name in the checked-in list and hand over the keys to you for your room.

Rooms in either hostel will be twin sharing and will contain a bed with mattress, pillow, bedsheet and pillow cover. We have arranged for bucket and mug for each room. The participants are requested to bring a blanket if required as it will not be provided.

During your stay if you have any queries at any point kindly contact Mr. Dilawar Singh (+91 9654828091) for Hostel 4 and Ms. Sruthi Sudhakar (+91 9947655330) for Hostel 15. Please contact them only after/during the process of hostel check in. For any other query please direct your questions to Ms. Bhawna Mishra/ Ms. Amrita Suresh/ Ms. Damini Sahu/ Mr. Sukhwinder Singh/ Mr. Saeedur Rahman (numbers provided below).

There will not be any lunch or dinner provided to participants for the 6th of March, 2024. We request you explore the eateries on campus for the same.

The campus has several eateries such as Café Coffee Day, Chaayos, Amul café, Aromas canteen, Gulmohar restaurant, Café 92 and Night Canteens at Hostels 2,6,12 and 10 in case you need a quick bite at an odd hour during the scientifically stimulating 3 days.

For students who are availing accommodation and have checked in by 6th March, 2024; we will be distributing your registration kits in two slots on the 6th of March. Slot 1 is from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and slot 2 is from 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Distribution of kits will take place from the VMCC kiosk (https://maps.app.goo.gl/7FnToDDHahsC5Zvw5). You can visit the kiosk in any of these slots to collect your kit. This is to prevent overcrowding and make the registration process smooth.

The second slot for kit distribution on the 6th of March will be followed by a small tour around campus at 9:35 PM to familiarize you with the locations of SAIF (https://maps.app.goo.gl/3ndV6qaBWTn2QVk26), P.C. Saxena Auditorium (https://maps.app.goo.gl/rF6BJWK25C9PHnCX6) and Gulmohar Gardens (https://maps.app.goo.gl/zU85NiiF2pboiTkd7) so that during the course of the conference you don’t face any issues. If you are interested, please be at the VMCC kiosk by 9:30 PM. You will also be provided with a map of the institute in your registration kits (soft copy is attached to this letter) in case you require any immediate assistance at a later point.

For people who are unable to collect their kits the day before, registration will start at 8:00 AM at VMCC kiosk on the 7th of March. Kindly register by 8:45 AM. Registration will be accompanied by breakfast on the first-floor foyer of VMCC. Breakfast will be provided only after the registration has been completed as coupons for breakfast will be provided with the registration kit. Please keep in mind that the conference starts at 9:00 AM, hence we request you to be seated in B. Nag Auditorium, VMCC by 8:45 AM. Breakfast will also be served on the 8th and 9th of March at the same place starting from 8:00 AM. Refreshment timings during the conference have been tabulated and has been provided along with this email.

Lunch and Tea will be served at the foyers in VMCC/ P.C. Saxena Auditorium, however dinner on the 7th of March will take place in the Banquet Hall of Gulmohar gardens. Our volunteers will direct you to the exact location at the time of dinner. We have planned a Gala Dinner on the 8th of March which will take place at Global Fusion (https://maps.app.goo.gl/YpKFhp2Een6EyCyg8). We have arranged for transportation from the campus to the venue for all our participants. Instructions about your pick up will be informed to you a day prior.

The conference ends on the 9th of March with a High Tea followed by the workshop sessions. There will not be any dinner that day. Please feel free to explore the eateries on campus with your friends. You can also go to Hiranandani complex as there are multiple restaurants present there.

Your hostel accommodation will be till 10th March, 11:00 AM. During your departures from the campus please get in touch with Mr. Singh/Ms. Sruthi (numbers provided above) so that they can collect your room keys and note your check out on their list.

1. Turn on WIFI on your device.

3. Enter user ID and password.

2. Then click on “Advanced”, followed by selecting “Proceed to guest-wifi.iitb.ac.in (unsafe).”
3. The login page will appear.

4. Put the provided user-id and password to login
